After graduating from a British secondary highschool, Dr. Hanano gained his first and second degrees in biology from universities in Germany, New York and San Diego. This was followed by his PhD, for which he was granted a scholarship for biomolecular medicine, and his post doctorate at the University of Ulm in the field of immunology.
In 1999 he joined a globally active wound healing company as a manager of scientific cooperations, progressing to group leader of corporate research and development.
Within these positions Dr. Hanano established and coordinated scientific research partnerships with both industry and academic institutions. He was responsible for developing experimental design, resource allocation, project management, analysis of results and advising on future research developments. Included were intensive literature and internet surveys, trend scouting, as well as communications with and presentations to various external partners. This allowed Dr. Hanano to gain considerable expertise in the search for and implementation of innovations into product development.
Dr. Hanano has published widely in a range of international scientific journals as well as attending and presenting at numerous national and international conferences. He has also lectured at an educational academy on bioactive wound treatment.

Within the frame of his self-employed profession with Ralno Dr. Hanano has been involved in different national and international projects, some of which he has managed completely or supervised in part. These have usually focussed on the development of medical devices and their introduction to the German market. His tasks encompassed the assignment of clinical trials and support of these by providing clinical protocols, general product-specific technical support, data analysis and support in publishing these, the establishment and translation of marketing material, the search for adequate sales partners and education as well as supervision of them. Furthermore, he acted as a link between the associated companies in different countries and the diverse sales partners as well as between the scientific and marketing sectors. Where necessary he has accomplished the national and global scientific management, gave technical support, consulting and education for all involved partners, gave lectures on specific conferences and wrote articles for diverse journals.
